Why we do what we do!
In 1997, in response to the longstanding lack of services, resources, and opportunities in Worcester’s Pleasant-Piedmont neighborhoods, residents and local organizations came together to form the Pleasant Street Neighborhood Network Center (PSNNC). This grassroots, resident-led coalition was built on the need for representation, advocacy, and collective action. Since its founding, PSNNC has remained dedicated to addressing systemic disparities and uplifting the voices of those most impacted by these challenges.
For over 25 years, the strength of PSNNC has come from the leadership and dedication of community members who have shaped and sustained the Center’s initiatives. Working alongside Executive Directors, these individuals have played a crucial role in ensuring that our mission remains relevant and responsive to the neighborhood’s evolving needs. Their contributions have not only strengthened our organization but have also fostered a culture of empowerment, self-determination, and community-driven change.
As we look ahead, we remain committed to nurturing leadership from within the community. We will continue to identify and support residents who are deeply invested in the well-being of our neighborhood, equipping them with the tools, knowledge, and opportunities to collaborate effectively with our next Lead Organizer. We believe leadership is not something to be imported but cultivated from within, and our role is to provide the mentorship and resources necessary for individuals to expand their capacities, amplify their impact, and drive meaningful, lasting change for generations to come.
